me mo' so

why do you remark
on how tightly folded
i am
and how i seem to
droop

when it was you
who let down
a heavy blunt finger
of disappointment
to touch
me?

Untitled

Where mine have been razed
to the ground
you will build yours.
Upon my memories, my past,
up rise your present and future;
upon the clean slate
of my once-happiness,
which had been build on
another’s,
the promise of yours.

So must this be life
where there is not space
enough, no room
for everybody’s happiness.

Red

(a idea)

Longer, more voluminous than the Amazon,
      the Nile, the Yangtze;
more fertile than the Euphrates, the Sava, the Volga;
more sacred than the Ganges, the Indus, the Jordan;
more beautiful than the Danube, the Rhine, the Seine;
flows the river
from the delta
of a woman’s thighs.

by any other name

(a idea)

i think
there are no adjectives
that can adequately describe
even a fraction of its beauty
never mind exactly
how exquisite it is
i wish there were
so those who don’t know it
who can’t see it
might at least understand
why it is so indescribably
wondrous to you and me
for us
we are born into its glory
with every breath
baptized by its radiance
with every heartbeat
yet so much has been said of it
so many voices so many words
which all too often
make me weep searing tears
that fail to thaw the hoarfrost
in my blood
when i read about the ones
people like us who are in possession
      of it
who share its splendor
were violated wounded
      even killed
by fearful ignorance

in a world of us and them
there are few who do not feel it
it is as much a blessing for them
as it is to us
it is wondrous for everyone
us and them
whatever it is we can’t now put into words
when we have courage and pride enough
we would dare to speak its name

puzzle

in bed
like a wooden puzzle
every part of us
interlocked burrs
we spend our mornings
dismantling ourselves
yet it is never too long
before we slowly (but surely)
unconsciously
begin to reconstruct
the beautiful intricate
jigsaw sculpture of our
singularity

how we fit
so perfectly
together
you and i
