I know this doesn’t make sense,
but it doesn’t have to -

I am lost,
and I need to be found,
so I could be

lost.

The Second Time

Lying on your side,
your back to me,
I could see the straight line
of your shoulders
and your long black hair.

When I reached out to touch you,
your tanned shoulder was warm
and solid to my touch;

when my arms slowly slid around you,
drawing me closer to you,
the feel of your skin on mine,
I rested my head on your arm,
then rested my eyes.

When my eyes next open,
I am here
alone;

no longer caught in that
still, timeless moment with you.

Oh Goddess,
let me close these eyes once more -
take me away to timelessness -

and let them never open
ever again.

Untitled

let me lie back
and sink into the watery depths,
my heart and mind
the Piscean halves
each struggling in opposite directions
rending my soul in two

my mind seeks out the sun
my heart the moon
never to be found
in the same pool

the tattered remnants of my soul
drifting farther and farther apart
swept off by the currents

Poor Moon,
all by your pale lonesome.

Where is that Man;
where is Chang’e?

Will the stars that play
ring a ring o’ rosies around you
not let you join?

Pay them no mind and
come by my window:
I will keep you company

till at last you fall asleep,
wrapped in the gossamer shawl of clouds,
and nestle into the infinite mantle
of dreams.

Lost-and-Found

Everything here has been lost by someone –
not all due to carelessness, I’m sure;
some, like me, have been lost from the very
    beginning,
searching for someone to find me,
looking to complete someone to complete myself.

Wouldn’t it be nice
if there were some kind of a
universal Lost-and-Found
for everything?

“Lost your cell-phone,
brolly, keychain,
bobbypin –
something, anything?
Fret not – you’ll find it here.

“Here – did you say you've lost
a little cloth pouch with
a rainbow sewed-on stuffed gecko
or a sparkly sewed-on stuffed frog?

“Did you lose your temper,
your childhood, or heart?
Well, those are a little trickier
but not impossible to find –
try the third shelf on your left.”

Me?
Oh, I don’t actually work here -
oh no, I’m just … here.

Okay, honestly?
I stuck myself here.

Well,
see, someone lost me – the half of themselves,
the half of their soul – so here I am,
at the Lost-and-Found.

Say,
if you come across someone who is only
half the person they can be,
let them know where they can find me,

would you?

Where are you?
Lost, out there,
somewhere.

Then I wish to be lost –
because I need to be found.

Can you reach out and touch me
please?
Here, let me help you:

first, your hand –
large, well-formed, with
four long fingers and a stubborn thumb –
appears;
then, a forearm, long
and taut, muscles dancing
like butterflies beneath your skin;
reach out, farther and farther …

closer and closer –
I cannot come any closer.

Reach out just a little more,
and I will give you a hand –
pull you out from my dreams

and into my reality.
