To My Neighbor’s Half-Grown Puppy-Dog

I hear you, buddy.

All day long you howl,
confined to your blue kennel –
I hear you, my friend,
I hear you.

If I were a dog,
or had a howl half as eloquent
as yours,
I would howl too –
mournfully, like you –
all the day long.

Yours is a howl that articulates
      and wrenches
from the heart
a thousand emotions.

So howl,
my comrade-in-care,
my companion true,
for when you howl
you howl for us two.

A Love Letter To An Agoraphobe: Coming Out In The Open With My Love

O my dearest agoraphobic one,
Look at me - I’ve come undone!

I can hide it no longer –
I’m on a hair fine trigger;

I have to let it all out in the open
That which I’ve felt blossom and ripen.

Yes, I have to come right out –
Not just say it – but loudly shout:

I love you, I love you, I love you!
Without you, my world is askew;

With you, I won’t be alone in the crowd -
Nor will you ever: this I have avowed.

I will be the wall you hug,
I will be your sedative drug;

You’ll never again have a panic attack,
Or ever feel you’re out of whack.

(And even if you do,
I will still love you.)

You’ll never have to fear public places
For I’ll promise to be wherever it is -

Come hell or high waters,
In the open, or under covers –

Wherever you are:
I’ll never be far.

Together, the world will be our oyster,
Which will us protect and shelter;

Alone, the world is a jungle
Which does our nerves embrangle.

So, come, my dearest agoraphobic sweet,
Let us each to each complete;

Come on out and say you love me too -
That, yes, you do, you do, you do!

Take my hand – cling to me if you will –
Let our love be open and a thrill!

We will create our own universe
Where we will without fear traverse.

Yes, come on out in the open:
Let it not be stay hidden,
Let this simmering passion deepen -
Let this waiting life happen.

Love,
Me.

Writer’s block
Mental block
A bloody block up of the brain

Nothing much
Life just sucks
Everything’s a fucking pain

So sue me
Nothing’s free
You are just another dude

Oh you fool
Think you’re cool
Think again ’cuz you’ve been screwed
