Do I Hurt You

Do I hurt you
Every time I leave your side
To go back to his?
You must tell me.
Maybe I hurt you too
Every time I turn up by your side
And stay just long enough
To leave
Wearing the diaphanous stole
Of your perfume and the
Imprint of the delicate bracelet
Of your arms
Around me.
Do I hurt you then?
You must tell me so -
Or you must tell me no
The next time I return to you.
And I will return to you
Because I cannot help myself.
Do not let me return to you;
You must not
Let it happen the next time
Or there will be a next time
And a next time and many more
Next time’s to come -
And twice as many next time’s
To hurt ...
If I hurt you, you must tell me so,
Tell me to leave, to go.
And maybe
Maybe I will not return.
I cannot help myself,
Going to you;
But I do not want to hurt you,
Leaving you to go back
To him.
Do I hurt you?
You must tell me so.
