I See You

I see you
I behold a beauty most fragile
I glimpse of a will most tenacious
I see a Fate most unfeeling

I see you
The very first time a chance encounter
Dimpled smile and friendly eyes
Such warmth, such joy, such life

I see you
But you never saw me
Dimpled smile and friendly eyes
They were never meant for me

I see you
Smiling, laughing, living
Such warmth, such joy, such life
I wished you would share with me

I see you
Your beauty, your joy, your life
They would not let me otherwise
They rendered me a silent captive

I see you
I had always wished for courage
I had always wished for words
I will always wish for you

I see you
Today I have the courage
Today the words have come to me
Today I see you

I see you
Today I see you
Today I see you, separated by that damn piece of glass
Today I see you, so close yet so far

I see you
Today I stand before you
Your eyes are opened but you don’t see me
I speak to you but will you hear me?

I see you
Today I behold a beauty most fragile
Today I glimpse of a will most tenacious
Today I see a Fate most unfeeling

I see you
Dimpled smile and friendly eyes
Such warmth, such joy, such life
I am too late for them

I see you
ICU
A life most fragile
No warmth, no joy, no laughter

I see you
Today in ICU
Separated by that damn piece of glass
So close yet so far

I see you
So close yet so far
Too late
Too late
